IDNeutral nameShapeBeginner note
I Long Best for long clears and open wells.
O Square Stable, simple, and useful for flattening.
T Corner Flexible for notches and small repairs.
S Left Zig Useful on stepped surfaces.
Z Right Zig Mirrors the other zig shape.
J Left Hook Good for side pockets and ledges.
L Right Hook Mirrors the other hook shape.

How blocks create lines

Every block piece occupies four cells. When the piece locks into the board, those cells become part of the stack. A line clears only when every cell in that horizontal row is filled. The basic skill is placing each shape so it contributes to a future line without creating covered holes.

How pieces rotate

Each shape has up to four rotation states. The Square looks the same in every rotation, while the Long, Corner, Zig, and Hook shapes change orientation. The game uses simple wall adjustment so a rotation near the side of the board can still work when there is legal space nearby.

Beginner tips

Use Square pieces to stabilize uneven areas, keep a clean lane for Long pieces when chasing larger clears, and avoid placing Zig shapes where they create a buried gap. Hook pieces are good repair tools because they can cover ledges without making the surface too steep.
